Many learners are excited (and perhaps a little nervous) about taking their practical driving test, as once they pass, they'll be able to enjoy the freedom of independent driving.

Learn with Duncan Beckwith Driver Training of Ripon, and I will help you to prepare for every aspect of your practical test, ensuring you're feeling confident and ready on the big day!

Before you begin the driving section, you'll need to complete an eyesight test (reading number plates at a distance) in addition to two 'show me, tell me' questions. Here, you'll be required to demonstrate your knowledge of the car, its functions and road safety.

Your practical test will also include around 10 minutes of independent driving. During this section, you will be tested on the practical navigation skills you'll have acquired during your lessons. The examiner will give you a set of direction to follow; you must safely navigate the roads and traffic to reach the destination.

It doesn't matter if you take a wrong turn; you will be tested on your ability to safely negotiate traffic, obey road signs and traffic signals.

You will also be asked to demonstrate at least one reverse manoeuvre during the test.

Many of my pupils pass first time and are now driving safely and independently on the open road!
